Douglas Luiz has ended speculation over his future by signing a new long-term deal at Aston Villa on Friday.

The Brazilian international midfielder had been the subject of bids from Premier League leaders Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window with his previous contract set to expire in June 2023.

"I love this club. This club opened the door for me when I came to England to play in the Premier League," Luiz told the Villa website.

"I'm so happy because I'm staying here and my choice is here."

The 24-year-old joined Villa in 2019 and has gone on to make 120 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals.
