Frenchman Anigo to coach Greek side Panionios
Former sporting director of French giants Marseille Jose Anigo has signed to coach Panionios, the Greek Super League club announced Wednesday.
No financial details nor duration of the contract was announced by the Athens side.
Anigo, 57, last season coached Greek club Levadiakos.
He has devoted most of his professional life to Marseille, playing over 200 times for them as a hardman defender and then serving them twice as coach, firstly from 2001-05 - whereupon he assumed the sporting director role - and then from 2013-14.
Under his tenure as sporting director players of the calibre of Franck Ribery and Mathieu Valbuena were signed.
Anigo ended the 26-year association with Marseille to become the coach of Tunisian side Esperance in 2015.
Before taking the job at Esperance, he had settled in Morocco following the murder of his son Adrian, who was 30 when he was shot dead in Marseille in 2013.
Anigo has also coached Consolat (1996-1997) and Endoume (1995-1996).
