Red-hot Modeste nets again as Cologne down Gladbach
Anthony Modeste struck his league-leading 12th goal as Cologne prolonged Borussia Moenchengladbach's winless run to six games with a 2-1 victory on Saturday.
Gladbach host Manchester City in a crucial Champions League encounter on Wednesday and looked on course for a timely win when Lars Stindl struck after 32 minutes at Borussia Park.
But Frenchman Modeste equalised with an hour gone before Marcel Risse's superb long-range free-kick in stoppage time handed Cologne all three points as Peter Stoeger's men moved up to third in the Bundesliga.
Leon Goretzka scored an 82nd-minute winner as Schalke continued their climb with a 1-0 win at struggling Wolfsburg, while Hertha Berlin stayed fourth following a goalless stalemate away to Augsburg.
Niko Bungert, Yunus Malli and Stefan Bell, Karim Onisiwo were all on target for Mainz in a 4-2 victory over Freiburg, while Moritz Hartmann's second-half strike earned Ingolstadt their first win of the season at Darmstadt.
On Friday, RB Leipzig claimed another milestone in their fledgling history by climbing top of the table after twice coming from behind to win 3-2 at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bundesliga newcomers stretched their unbeaten run to a record 11 games as defender Willi Orban delivered the winning goal nine minutes from time.
Kevin Kampl fired Leverkusen into an early lead at the BayArena but Julian Baumgartlinger's own goal drew Leipzig level almost immediately.
Germany international Julian Brandt made it 2-1 to the hosts just before half-time, but the turning point came when Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi saved a 54th-minute penalty from Hakan Calhanoglu.
Emil Forsberg equalised for Leipzig following an impressive solo run on 67 minutes before Orban's late winner sent the Bundesliga upstarts three points clear of Bayern Munich.
Carlo Ancelotti's side go to Borussia Dortmund later in a battle of Germany's top clubs -- dubbed 'Der Klassiker' -- knowing they must win to regain first place on goal difference.
Dortmund haven't beaten Bayern at home in the league since April 2012 and trail the Bavarian giants by six points.
