Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton says the Glasgow giants will work hard to eradicate the sloppiness that cost them victory against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

The Hoops host Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Celtic Park on Saturday after twice being pegged back by Killie as the Scottish Premiership's basement club held the defending champions to a 2-2 draw at Rugby Park.

Leigh Griffiths had given the Parkhead club an early lead and they went on to miss a host of chances before Josh Magennis equalised right before the break.

Israeli international Bitton then got on the scoresheet with a sensational strike but Kallum Higginbotham slotted home a late penalty for the home side.

The result meant Celtic were knocked off top spot by newly-promoted Hearts, who made it three wins out of three with a 2-0 victory over Motherwell at Tynecastle.

Manager Ronny Deila slammed his side's lack of discipline and Bitton conceded the Hoops hadn't performed well.

"We were sloppy, we need to work on it and we will work on it," said the 23-year-old. "We didn't play smart, we didn't play quick.

"We should have kept the ball and let Kilmarnock run after it, we didn't do it and when you don't do it you concede and that's what happened.

"We created a lot of chances and we missed a lot of chances and their goalie had a great day. I am just disappointed.

"It was a great goal but it doesn't matter if we lose points.

"We should have finished the game but that's what happens when you miss chances."

Deila made a host of changes for the match against Kilmarnock and is set to swap things up again this Saturday as the Hoops face Inverness in order to rest players ahead of next Wednesday's Champions League play-off first leg against Swedish title holders Malmo.

However Bitton believes the players should be able to cope no matter how much disruption there is to the starting XI and targeted a return to winning ways when John Hughes's side visit the East End of Glasgow.

"Right now the most important thing is that we don't lose points like that and we just keep winning," Bitton said.

"At this stage it's the beginning of the season so a lot of players can be tired but there's no excuse. When we play we need to do our best.

"We have a big squad with a lot of players and all of us are good players, so the manager can use all of us and that's what he's done.

"There are a lot of good players at the club and especially when you play at a club like Celtic a lot of players deserve to play."

Elsewhere on Saturday, leaders Hearts face a trip to Ross County as they look to maintain their perfect record, while Dundee host St Johnstone in a Tayside derby.

Aberdeen are away to Motherwell and Hamilton Academical take on Dundee United at New Douglas Park.
