Cacau strike stops Urawa's winning streak
Former Germany and Stuttgart striker Cacau scored the lone goal in Cerezo Osaka's 1-0 win over Urawa Reds at home Saturday, stopping the J-League leaders' winning streak at four matches.
The Brazilian-born German player nailed a 25-metre scorcher in the 68th minute for his second goal since moving to Osaka last month after 11 seasons with the Bundesliga side.
Urawa remained at the top of the table with 53 points with eight games left to play in the season. But their cushion narrowed from six to four points.
"We had four to five scoring chances but could not convert them," Urawa manager Mihailo Petrovic said after the match in which his side, the 2007 Asian champions, outshot Cerezo 15-7.
"We didn't deserve to lose but this is football," said the Serb.
Kashima Antlers overtook Kawasaki Frontale in the second spot after whitewashing Tokushima Vortis 5-0 away with a brace and an assist from Brazilian midfielder Caio.
Kawasaki battled from behind to a 1-1 draw with Vegalta Sendai with a 90-minute equaliser from Yasuhito Morishima.
Cerezo Osaka, Dortmund playmaker Shinji Kagawa's first club, climbed to 14th from 16th in the 18-team J-League standings.
